1952

EMW
In December, the EMW Steel Service Centre is founded: “Trading with industrial raw materials and products of all kinds”.

1962

The “Pfannenberg”
The closed iron ore mine "Pfannenberger Einigkeit" is taken over by the twins Manfred und Theo Schäfer. “Pfannenberg GmbH“ is founded.

1963

EMW’s relocation
EMW relocates to the Pfannenberg site in rebuilt factory halls purchased from the closed Rasselstein rolling mill in Neuwied and transported to Neunkirchen.

1972

New slitting line
Commissioning of the “Wilhlelmsburger” slitting line enhances the EMW product range. The new production line processes coils of up to 15 tons in weight and adds slit strip to the EMW range.

1978

New cut-to-length line
The “Roland” cut-to-length line goes into operation. EMW is now able to process coils of up to 20 tons.

1980th

Change at EMW
EMW goes through change, away from the classical cutting-to-size operations, and moves towards modern longitudinal and lateral cutting.

1988

Capacity extension
The “GEORG” slitting line is commissioned, further improving EMW’s processing capacities. Weights of up to 25 tons and widths of up to 1860 mm can now be processed.

1992

CNC cutting centre
The modern “Amada” cutting centre further supports the slitting and cutting-to-length lines.

2001

Extending production
A progressive innovation: the “GEORG 1“ multi-blanking line starts production operations in May 2001.

2006

4th. slitting line
The “GUIDA 2“, a slitting line including a blade changing station with robot, is commissioned in November.

2008

Production and storage facilities
13 production and storage facilities meanwhile belong to EMW.

2011

5th. slitting line
The “GUIDA 3” slitting line goes into operation. As of now, EMW can process coils of up to 32 tons and thicknesses of 0.4 – 4.5 mm.
